Blog 1- The beginning of the journey

Today, was my my very first site visit as part of ‘real life’ project. This first project is a 1920’s, red sandstone façade, flat in Anniesland, Glasgow. In my first inspection of the property, there isn’t actually anything structurally wrong with the property, it has been a well looked after home. The main thing I achieved from todays visit was gathering dimensions for the property and gaging what kind of space I was going to be renovating.

My favourite thing about older properties are the features that come with it. Unfortunately, a previous owner in this flat have removed a majority of these features- the removal of the original fireplace saddens me! However, they have maintained the original doors which is a blessing. My biggest challenge will be restoring some character back into this property.

Entrance hallway. Extremely dark/dull, no natural light source.
Stunning Front door in entrance hallway.
Kitchen. Naturally lit but is a very awkward shape!
Bathroom. Typical, small, period property bathroom.
Master bedroom. Good sized room.
Bedroom 2. Smaller of the 2 bedrooms but still has good cupboard space.
Living room. Really bright and still has some existing character!

Note: All Covid-19 safety precautions where taken during this visit. This visit was also made before the official lockdown was announced.
